Liza is the Director of  Marriage and Family Therapy Services and a clinical member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).  She received her Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Appalachian State University in 1999 and began her private practice at that time. She is also the Chairperson of the Public Relations Committee for the NCAMFT (North Carolina Association of Marriage and Family Therapy).

"I consider it my personal mission to reduce the divorce rate in the United States... one couple at a time.  But preventing divorce will only be succesful if in place of unfulfilling or chronically dysfunctional marriages, couples develop truly thriving marriages and deeply fulfilling relationships.

Even in the most hopeless-seeming cases, couples can heal the damage from the past and move forward in a healthier way. Not all marriages can be saved, but when couples do the work to heal the past, their future can be happier, no matter what the outcome for the relationship."

Brenton Queen, MS

is a
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Child Development and Family Relations; Brenton completed his Masters of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy at East Carolina University in 2004. He is a clinical member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, and is also a Certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor.

Since graduation Brenton has worked extensively as an intensive in-home therapist, assisting families with complicated mental health/relational issues in their homes. He served as the Wake County Area Director for an Intensive In-Home therapy company in Raleigh until his move to Catawba County in 2006. While in Catawba County he has served as a therapist specializing in the treatment of mental health and relational concerns of adolescents and families. Brenton is currently employed full-time, serving as the liaison for mental health/substance abuse services and the local detention centers of Burke and Catawba County.  He joined Marriage and Family Therapy Services part-time in April, 2010.

Brenton’s experience with the high risk populations of both urban and rural areas has enhanced his skill set as a therapist working with couples and families of diverse cultural backgrounds, sexual orientations, and socioeconomic levels. He enjoys his work with adolescents and their families struggling with mental illness, behavior problems, parent-child conflict, past trauma, depression, and anxiety. Brenton’s training and experience as a couple’s therapist serves him well as an advocate for keeping relationships alive and growing; his background in marital/couples therapy includes working through such issues as family planning, grief/loss, infidelity, members struggling with mental illness, and managing conflict.

“Although our lives together are often strained by seemingly unforgiving challenges, we have the ability to seek out possibilities for a more meaningful future together.  It is in those possibilities, and the passion they may evoke, that we push forward to be the partners in life that we dream to be.”
