Inclement Weather Policy.

IN CASE OF INCLEMENT WEATHER:

If your appointment is scheduled on a day with inclement weather, you can go to http://html.wsoctv.com/weather/closings/#H to check and see if Hickory City Schools has called for a delay or a closure for the day.


DELAYS:
In the case of a 2-Hour delay, for example, Marriage and Family Therapy Services will open at 11 a.m. instead of 9 a.m. If your appointment was originally scheduled for 9 a.m., but there is a 2-Hour Delay, it will not be possible to meet at your appointed time, and you will need to re-schedule for another time, perhaps later in the day, or on another day.

As soon as possible, we will contact you by telephone in the case of a delay, to re-schedule your appointment. If at all possible, we will attempt to fit you in to the same week so you do not miss your opportunity to meet with your therapist.


CLOSINGS:
If Hickory City Schools has cancelled for an entire day, Marriage and Family Therapy Services will also be closed for the entire day, and all appointments will be rescheduled. Again, we will do our best to contact you as soon as we can, to re-schedule your appointment for later in the same week, or as soon as our calendar can accomodate your needs.


SAFETY FIRST!
At Marriage and Family Therapy Services, we strongly emphasize the important of your and your family's safety and well-being. If dangerous driving conditions pose too much of a risk for you to travel to our office, we would prefer you err on the side of caution. Any time our office is open but snow or ice pose too much of a risk, please call our office and we will do our best to re-schedule you to a time/day that would work better for you.

You will not be charged a missed session fee in the case of a true, unavoidable inclement weather threat, even if our offices are open.
 

OCCASIONAL EXCEPTIONS:
There are occasions when the Hickory City School system calls a "snow-day" even though the roads are generally passable. When this occurs, our therapists are sometimes able to get in to the office. If this occurs, we will contact you ahead of time, to offer you the option of attending your appointment, even though the Hickory City School District has called for a closing. It will be your choice, at that point, to determine whether or not you will attend your appointment. If you choose not to attend, you will not be charged a missed session fee.  

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists are very specifically prepared to handle the complex problems that develop in relationships. The counselors at Marriage and Family Therapy Services are all Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists. This area of specialty produces highly trained and uniquely qualified clinicians, who are able to treat couples, families, groups, and individuals with a multitude of relationship concerns.

A Marriage and Family Therapist's entire graduate education and post-graduate training prepared them for marital and family therapy, and the many complexities that arise when more than one person enters the treatment room. Too many counselors who say they offer "couples" or "family therapy" have not received this level of training and expertise. We believe putting your relationship in the hands of a less-than-qualified professional is too high a risk to take.
